Craig-Atkins Debate: What is the Evidence For/Against the Existence of God?

Sponsored by the Faith and Science Lecture Forum, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia.

Peter W. Atkins Peter W. Atkins
Dr. Craig's opponent and arguing against the proposition will be Dr. Peter W. Atkins. Dr. Atkins is currently Professor of Physical Chemistry at Lincoln College at Oxford, England. He and has authored over 36 peer-reviewed articles. His textbook of physical chemistry is the predominant text used in the U.S. and U.K. Dr. Atkins is also an ardent atheist. He was recently quoted in the London Daily Telegraph as saying, "It is not possible to be intellectually honest and believe in gods. And it is not possible to believe in gods and be a true scientist. Religion is outmoded and ridiculous; a worn-out but once useful crutch in mankind's journey toward truth." His appearances on numerous radio and television broadcasts dealing with the question of the existence of God, along with his panache for the "soundbite," make him a worthy opponent for Dr. Craig. His recognition as a scholar, and his critique of the Christian viewpoint in particular, make him an excellent foe of the proposition.
